Security Services promotes safe cycling to staff and students

The event was aimed particularly at the new intake of freshers, many of whom have little experience of riding on busy city streets.

The team were joined by Erith Construction, currently working on preparing the Tinbergen Building for its planned demolition, who supplied a construction lorry so people could sit in the driver’s seat and get a sense of how hard it is for drivers to see cyclists around them. British Transport Police were also there putting security markings on visitors’ bikes and providing general cycle security guidance, while Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue officers were providing road safety advice.

Security Services staff themselves sold equipment at discount prices, including D-locks and high-visibility gear.
