Stolen cards

  • If you are a student, please report the stolen card and your Crime Reference Number to your college office (or designated departmental administrator if you have no college). They will inform the Card Office for you.
  • If you are a member of staff, please report the stolen card and your Crime Reference Number to your department or college HR so they can inform the Card Office.

If you do not have a Crime Reference Number, you will need to pay the £15 replacement fee on the Online Store as soon as possible.

Instruction for Card Administrators

If a card holder reports a stolen card to you, please inform us immediately via email and we will cancel the card. Reporting this quickly will prevent unauthorised use of the card.

You will need to ask the card holder to confirm their Crime Reference Number. There is no fee for replacing a stolen card where a Crime Reference Number has been provided. If the card holder does not have a Crime Reference Number, please advise them to pay the £15 replacement fee via the Online Store.

Once the new card has been issued, it will be sent to you to forward to the card holder. If the stolen card is recovered after a replacement card has been issued, it cannot be used and must be returned to you for destroying.

If urgent access is required to libraries, the Bodleian Library Admissions Office in the Weston Library on Broad Street will issue a day pass until the new University card is ready.
