New bike racks on the way
Environmental Sustainability staff led an expedition around the estate this spring to test the various kinds of two-tier bike racks that have been installed so far

The conclusion was that the best system was a surprisingly simple one – standard Sheffield hoop bike racks on the ground with top tier piston assisted racks installed above, rather than any of the more complex two-tier stacking systems in use. These will now be recommended whenever such racks are being installed in future.
The initiative is part of a wider programme of improvements to the Science Area, which will get more bike parking spaces as well as better landscaping using space made available by reductions in car parking spaces.
