Staff car parking temporarily increased

Departments are being given Temporary Permission to Park (TPTP) permits to distribute to staff. More details of how the system works are available from the parking pages on the Travel website.

These are the only permits that Security Services will recognise as valid during peak hours for the time being. Others, including temporary Covid-19 permits that departments have issued during the pandemic, are no longer usable. TPTP permits are in limited supply and priority should be given to colleagues who need them most, such as those with disabilities or caring commitments that mean parking elsewhere is not an option. These permits are temporary in nature and may be withdrawn at short notice if the situation changes.

Operational parking spaces around departments, intended for short-term use by visitors, will continue to work as before; likewise, University off-peak parking permits will still be usable outside peak hours.

There are also efforts afoot in collaboration with the County and City Councils to encourage walking and cycling wherever possible – for instance, increased bike parking facilities in the city centre, and improved provision for ‘park and pedal’ and ‘park and stride’, in which people drive to one of the park & ride facilities and then cycle or walk the last leg of the journey. Please consult the Travel website for more information. The University’s longer-term goal remains to encourage as many staff members as possible to travel into and around town sustainably.

Estates Services has also created a dedicated helpdesk to handle queries relating to re-opening buildings and returning to on-site working. Any questions or difficulties relating to parking should be directed to the helpdesk on (2)76916 or via rtosw@admin.ox.ac.uk.
