Broad Street improvement work to start on 7 September

Most of the work for the project, which is intended to build on the Broad Street Meadow initiative of 2021 and includes the installation of benches and planters at the western end of the street and the removal of car parking bays at the other, is planned to complete on 30 September although some of the planters may not be filled until early October.

Daytime works will take place between 9.30am and 5pm. There will also be work on the night of 27 September between 8pm and 6am. Noise will be kept to a minimum as far as possible.

A dedicated web page for the project will go live next week. The URL will be provided as soon as it is available, as will information on the consultation over the scheme. The consultation on planned changes to parking arrangements on Turl Street, Parks Road and St Giles' that will support the Broad Street changes is already open on the Council's website, and the comments and concerns of staff, students and members of the public are welcome.
