As part of her residency, Penny has written a cycle of poems about soil. Underfoot – literally downtrodden – it nonetheless nourishes and grounds us, and carries connotations of home, remembrance and forgetfulness. This October, she is printing a selection of these new poems for display in the Woods, where they will be exposed to the elements and wildlife in a gradual process of decomposition.
Tickets are available online now. The event will begin in Wytham Sawmill Yard at 4pm. Guests will enjoy a guided walk in the Woods to visit the poems in situ, and then return to the Sawmill at 5pm for a conversation between Penny and Charlie Lee-Potter, the 2024-25 writer-in-residence.
