New software will transform University's customer service to tenants

A suite of new software - MRI Horizon, MRI Sales & Lettings, and MRI Engage - will replace the existing Qube property management system, also produced by MRI Software. The solution will streamline processes within Estates Services and enable a better tenant experience. It will also provide much richer and more comprehensive management information, enabling better strategic decisions around the University's property holdings.

The University owns a substantial property portfolio around Oxford, including houses, farmland and commercial buildings. Some of the residential properties are leased out to private tenants, while others are made available to graduate students. The new software will be used by the Graduate Accommodation, Residential Lettings, Asset Management teams and Finance, within Estates Services. It will make the processes around property management far more efficient, improving communication and workflow.

One of the key improvements is for graduate students to select their rooms online. Other improvements will come in areas such as tenant reporting of repairs and maintenance, tenant accounts and income receipting, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The new software will enable future growth, offering the potential for significant further improvements later.

Tenants will be able to use a web platform to view their account, download documents, request maintenance and make payments, providing more flexibility.

Tony Langley recently joined the Estates Services Finance team to project manage the introduction of the new software in time to enrol the new intake of graduate tenants in May 2022. If you have any questions on the new system and its benefits, please contact tony.langley@admin.ox.ac.uk.
