Come along to an exhibition of design competition entries for a new Innovation District at Begbroke on 28 February

The event will run from 12-6pm on Monday 28 February at Keble College’s HB Allen Centre, on Banbury Road. Staff and students are warmly invited to come along to this showcase of some of the best competition entries, talk to the project team and contribute to the emerging vision for the Innovation District.

The exhibition will feature large, high-quality reproductions of nine of the strongest entries to the design competition – the five that were shortlisted in January this year, and four more that the judging panel were also particularly impressed by.

OUD – part of the University’s £4bn joint venture with Legal & General Capital – launched the international competition last year to appoint designers for the Innovation District masterplan. This will set out the ambitious vision for the project, which aims to push boundaries in environmental sustainability and innovative design, benefiting local communities as well as the University.

The new Innovation District at Begbroke is a £1bn project to create a 190-hectare mixed-use neighbourhood around Begbroke Science Park. This will comprise a range of research & development, commercial, residential, university accommodation, and associated social and physical infrastructure uses, such as schools, local centres, amenity space and recreation/leisure uses, as well as excellent sustainable transport links with Oxford.

This is just the first of several opportunities for University staff and students to find out about the plans and give feedback. A phased process of engagement and consultation will follow once the masterplanners are in place – the winning team will be announced in March 2022.

The OUD team looks forward to seeing you at the exhibition on 28 February. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact them on 0800 298 7040 or begbroke@oud.co.uk.
