Work starts on Global Health Building at Old Road Campus

Expected to be complete by early 2026, the new building will provide superb new facilities for research, teaching, innovation and outreach as the University continues to expand its biomedical science activities at Old Road.

It will include some 4,700m2 of high-quality new space, accommodating more than 700 researchers and other staff across three floors.

The new facility will bring together the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health with some of the Oxford Population Health department, providing attractive, comfortable spaces that foster collaboration and engagement across disciplinary boundaries, with the ultimate aim of improving treatments and saving lives all over the world.

Morgan Sindall are the main contractor for the project, which is designed for exceptional environmental performance, informed by the Passivhaus standard’s emphasis on high build quality, airtightness and good insulation.

The aim is to create a facility that is extremely comfortable for those working and studying there, as well as helping the University achieve its strategic goals of net zero carbon emissions and a positive overall impact on biodiversity by 2035.
