Science Wonder Garden Party returning to Begbroke on 13 July

There will be experiments to get involved with and lab tours, interactive talks, discovery trails, science-based carnival games and workshops on art and science – something to interest all the family.

University staff and students and members of the public alike are invited to come along, and bring their families – the event will last from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 13 July 2024, in the walled garden at Begbroke Science Park. It is hosted by Oxford University Development (OUD), working alongside the Begbroke Science Park team.

Attendance is completely free, but to give the organisers an idea of numbers it would be appreciated if you could use the web form to book your place. Free lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, until supplies run out.

To encourage people to travel to the site sustainably, the University has partnered with the Broken Spoke Bike Co-op to offer led cycle rides from Oxford to Begbroke on the day. Free buses from Kidlington, Yarnton and Begbroke will also be laid on – more information will be added to the Eventbrite page nearer to the event about this, as well as on the science engagement activities that are planned, so check back for more detail on what to expect.

Last year’s event was a big success, attracting nearly 1,500 visitors, and OUD and the Science Park team hope to make an even bigger splash this time around and to engage many more children and young people with the amazing science that goes on at Begbroke Science Park, around the University and beyond.
